Description: This program will provide introductory level information on key concepts of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and DBT Skills Training. Topics will include mindfulness, walking the middle path, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Skills and techniques from each of these topics will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced by participants. Participants will also receive information on using these skills with different populations and in different contexts (outpatient, substance use treatment, etc.). Discussion regarding cultural and spiritual considerations when using DBT Skills Training will be facilitated.
Learning Objectives Include:
•Participants will develop a foundational knowledge of mindfulness and the importance of mindfulness in DBT Skills Training.
•Participants will demonstrate understanding and application of selected DBT skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, as well as, the appropriate context for use of each skill.
•Participants will discuss cultural and spiritual considerations when using DBT Skills Training.
Participants will learn about options for facilitating DBT Skills Training with different populations and in different treatment settings.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:
Refunds are granted, less a $25 administrative fee, for those requests received in writing by email within two weeks of the seminar. Email requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. No refunds will be given if received less than two weeks from the seminar. If a person fails to attend the seminar and fails to contact us prior to the seminar about a cancellation, no refunds will be issued nor applied to a future seminar. If Cornerstone Counseling Center, LLC cancels any seminars, a full refund will be given. Cornerstone Counseling Center, LLC reserves the right to cancel any seminars due to low enrollment, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. By enrolling in a seminar, you agree to and will adhere to this policy.
Whitney Knox McDaniel, M.S., LPC: Whitney McDaniel received her M.S. in Community Counseling in 2011 from Jacksonville State University. She currently provides outpatient counseling to those with eating disorders. Ms. McDaniel also currently serves as a case manager for New Directions Behavioral Health. She has experience working with individuals, adults, adolescents, children, groups, and families. Throughout her career, she has addressed issues related to substance abuse, crisis management, binge eating/food addiction, as well as general mental health issues.
